Ok, well maybe after recent efforts I can start to say a bit of me is. I’m really happy to say I completed the Ilkley Half Marathon as part of my continued training efforts for the London marathon in October.
In the extreme heat and up/down hills the like of which just don’t exist on the Holderness plains around me I’m so pleased to have beaten my target of under 2hrs 30mins.
I had a great day, at a great event with a great mate! I wouldn’t have got round as quick had it not been for Reuben. Motivating me all the way when he could have done it in half the time!
Now I don’t live anywhere near Reuben, we weren’t at school together, didn’t meet at uni and our paths have never crossed through work yet he has supported me greatly in my training.
We met as we have both been members of Roundtable. A charitable organisation that has a great social side and for me has been a fantastic place to meet new people outside of work. The Ilkley Half Marathon is actually an event run by Ilkley Roundtable members and is put on to raise money for charities local to them, they will have raised thousands already in the few years it’s been going and what an event they put on!
Please don’t forget one main reason I am doing all this is to support the charity I chose to run the London marathon for, the outward bounds trust. Any donations big and small are greatly appreciate, many small donations are often better than one large one! If you would like to donate simply click here.
